New, well, EVERYTHING

So I've gone right ahead and done a complete re design of my entire website, portfolio, and blog. Why, you ask? Why not...

I figured it's been time to update everything in a more professional manner. Have a look at the new stuff! Let me know what you think of it!

And yes, I'll be posting more blogs daily/weekly, so stay tuned.

"Artcasm"

Some artists draw, some paint, others, like myself create Digital Art. However, there is one kind of artist that goes unnoticed, and doesn't get the recognition he deserves. Here's a hint as to what kind of artist I'm actually referring to.
"You need a haircut."
"We don't actually NEED anything except for food, air and water, so why don't we all go live in caves and spear large animals for food every day?"

The art of sarcasm has it's roots in many societies both now and in historical times before Christ. Actually, I just made that up, not true at all, I was being sarcastic. Who knows when sarcasm actually began? Even more so, who cares? Without sarcasm in all of it's wonderful forms, our society would not be what it is today.

1. We would have more fighting, for instance, instead of just jumping on someone and beating them into oblivion, we use sarcasm instead to express our anger to them.
2. Politicians would not be politicians.
3. Less laughing would occur.

Don't believe me? Go one full day without sarcasm. If you think you could, then I'd call you a different type of artist. (See right)

Are you impressed?

Have you ever changed yourself to impress another? I like to think I haven't, but actually, we all have. I'm currently sitting in St. John's University in Jamaica, New York. I glanced over my shoulder at the computer next to mine, at which there is a master student (she refers to herself this way in terms of being at St.John's for six years) writing a paper. The word "efficacious" came up about 3 times. When was the last time you used the word efficacious, without having to impress someone?

In terms of "impressing others" we tend to get out of our normal personalities and slip into a different person. Whether it be impressing the opposite sex, professors/teachers, bosses, or parents, the fact is that everyone does it. Out of pure curiosity, I decided to get a second opinion on this concept.

[Writer:Q.A.Headen,Jr.] What is the deep need for one to impress another? This can be due to the inadequatecies that one can find within themselves. An individual may not like their lives, their jobs, their homes, so they tend to imbelish the truth to seem better.

I feel as though it's not usually necessary to impress others in terms of opposite sex, or professors/teachers or authority. If you were to let yourself be YOU, they may like YOU better than what you are trying to be. I'm not trying to give any motivational speech or anything of the sort. More or less just trying to understand the actual art of "impressing others".

Did that impress you? good.

mikefortuna - portfolio description

After much work, deciding and weeding through the many different designs, I've finally completed my portfolio. My choice of design is a sleek, simple, yet artsy look and feel.

This was also the final choice, after sifting through 12 other designs I created. I've also decided to use this blog for my news posting regarding my design services, such as print, web and identity. The homepage of the site, found to the left, is of utter simplicity, and contains only logo - welcome message - and navbar. My reasoning behind it is easy - simple sells. (well, so does sex, but sex doesn't get you a job... - or does it?)

Also included in the site, is a gallery of some of my work. To the right is a picture of the gallery. The reason I decided to completely change the coloring and look of the gallery as opposed to the site itself, is due to the simple fact that my work is a part of me, but it is different than my actual person. I believe more of my mind is used when I create work. Maybe even the part of the 90% of the brain which they say isn't used.

[You no more use 90% of your brain potential than you use 90% of your muscle potential all of the time.

To say that we use all of our brain, would be like saying Arnold Schwarzenegger or Lou Firigno had as 90 pound teenagers reached the pinnacle of their muscular development.] source: http://www.neilslade.com/Papers/how.html

Anywho, you get the picture. Go ahead and visit MY PORTFOLIO and let me know what you think!
